‘Don't be Scared, my Child'

Drawn in the wake of the terrorist attack in Mumbai (26/11). The painting captioned ‘Don't be scared, my child' was displayed at the exhibition entitled ‘Art against terrorism' organized as a joint enterprise by nine galleries in Kolkata. The theme of the painting was more or less this the Madonna is instilling courage in a solitary weeping child amid a heap of debris in a large esplanade. Her eyes are aflame with the fiery defiance of the evil forces bent on destruction. |
